We Made a New Friend at San Clemente

At San Clemente Island we had this inquisitive harbor seal follow us around. Harbor seals tend to be more shy than the California sea lions, but sometimes they come out to follow us around and play with our fins. This image was taken by our long time friend Randy Pu.

Our Majestic Forest

This is one of the reasons why I say fall is he best season to dive in California. The water is clear and blue and the sunlight filters through the healthy kelp canopy. Sometimes I end up doing extra long safety stop because I'm just mesmerized by the beauty of the kelp forest.

November Tidepool Outing

As the ocean tides go out, the rocky shores become exposed and trapped sea water form “tidepools.” When the tides rise again, the entire area becomes submerged and the tidepools become hidden. Numerous animals are adapted to live in constantly changing water levels of the intertidal zone, many of which cannot be encountered at depths where divers explore. You will have a guided, tidepooling and beachcombing experience to help you discover numerous organisms that cling, crawl, camouflage, and burrow in the tidepools. We will also discuss beach safety and entry and exit strategies for exploring further into the ocean (if and when you go snorkeling or scuba diving). A light healthy snack is also included with this one-of-a-kind outing!

Our New Friend!

We were having such a great time aboard the Peace Dive Boat that this California brown pelican decided to come check us out. It happily hanged out with us on the boat and posed for pictures. We got a great group picture with our special guest.

Safety First

Yes, it's lobster season. It is exciting to go on a hunt, but don't get carried away. Monitor your depth and air, and make sure you have your safety equipment ready.
