Destination: Mt. Williamson

When: Sunday, September 30, 2018
Skill Level: ALL

Details:

- We will be hiking to Mt. Williamson in the Pleasant View Ridge Wilderness of the Angeles National Forest.
- Meet at Ocean Safari on Sunday, Sept 30, at 5:50 am (so we can leave right at 6am)
- Return to Shop 1:00 pm
- Forest Adventure Pass required for each vehicle, OSDT has two passes for our group.
- Please bring items listed under "Day Hike" in Know Before You Go section of the confirmation email

Trip Cost: $38

What to Expect:
- The trail will partly be a narrow single track.
- We will be hiking at elevation of 7000-8000ft, so you may feel a bit more tired than usual, but the trail is moderate.
- There is about 1500 ft elevation net gain and loss, and we will be hiking about 5 miles round trip (moderate).
- We will be walking and stopping to talk often.
- Temperature is expected to be 65-75°F. Please dress accordingly.
- We will provide a small meal and drink that we'll eat together at the destination.
- There may not be cell phone service up in the mountains, please notify anyone who might need to get in contact with you.

- We will be hiking to Mt. Lowe in the Angeles National Forest, with overlooking views of Los Angeles.
- Meet at Ocean Safari on Saturday, Oct 13, at 2:15 pm

Destination: Mt. Islip

Details:

- We will be hiking to Mt. Islip in back range of the Angeles National Forest.
- Meet at Ocean Safari on Sunday, Oct 21, at 5:50 am (so we can leave right at 6am)
- Return to Shop 1:30 pm.

- The trail may be narrow single-track in some places, but will be predominantly shaded on the north slopes of the backranges of the San Gabriel Mountains.
- We will be hiking at elevation of 7000-8000ft, so you may feel a bit more tired than usual, but the trail is moderate.
- There is about 1000 ft elevation net gain and loss, and we will be hiking about 3 miles round trip.
- Temperature is expected to be 65-78°F. May feel cooler in the shaded parts and hotter in the sunny parts. Please dress accordingly, layers are best.
- We will provide a small meal and drink that we'll eat together at the destination.
- We will be walking and stopping to talk often.
- There may not be cell phone service up in the mountains, please notify anyone who might need to get in contact with you

What to Expect:
- Expect to get your feet wet, and wade in up to 1 ft of water
- You may get splashed/sprayed by the waves
- The beach is very rocky, sharp, and slippery
- Temperature will likely be 70-75 degrees F
- No dogs allowed on the beach
- We will provide a light picnic meal together at the tide pools

- This trail is very easy and mostly flat. There is only about 200ft elevation change, and we will be hiking about 4 miles round trip.
- Parts of the trail are paved, other parts are dirt/rocky.

- There will be shade in many areas, but some parts will be unshaded and may be hot
- We will be walking and stopping to talk often.
- We will provide a small meal and drink that we'll eat together at the destination
