Red Colored "Black" Coral

A large school of glassy sweeper fish (parapriacanthus guentheri) swirling around an overhang with black coral in Misool Island, Raja Ampat, Indonesia. You might be wondering why the red colored coral in this picture is called “black” coral. The name comes from the black or brown color of the coral’s skeleton. The living tissue of the coral is brilliantly colored.
