Baja California Sur Big 3 Eco Expedition: La Paz to Magdalena Bay 2020

“Touch Gray Whales, Sea Lions and Whale Sharks and They will Touch Your Heart”

Imagine yourself on sparkling turquoise waters, with the warm sun kissing your shoulders, and being face to face with a baby gray whale and its mom! This amazing trip will be full of up close and personal encounters with big a variety of marine animals, including gray whales, whale sharks, and Baja sea lions! You’ll relax in paradise, and have a truly immersive experience basking in the natural habitat and lifestyle of Baja California, Mexico. You will tickle the chins of baby gray whales, snorkel and freedive with whale sharks and baby sea lions, go kayaking over the crystal clear waters, dig for chocolate clams and eat them over the fire, stand under the towering giant cacti, and play in the vast sand dunes. You will learn about the geography and ecology that makes it possible for Baja California to have the unique Sonoran desert landscape and coastal bay habitats, full of flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world!

We will fly into Cabo San Lucas, then have a van transfer to La Paz, where we will spend our first night. The second day we will head to Magdalena Bay, exploring the amazing sights of the giant cacti and elephant trees speckled over the vast Sonoran landscape on the way. We will spend 3 days and 2 nights at beautiful Magdalena Bay, one of the few bays that gray whales migrate south to every year to give birth and nurse their young before they migrate back north to the colder waters. February will be the peak season to see hundreds of gray whales in the bay. We will be accommodated in authentic Baja style palapas in paradise. After three days of whale watching, kayaking, exploring, and relaxing at Magdalena Bay we will head back to La Paz. In La Paz, we will have the opportunity to snorkel and freedive with whale sharks and Baja sea lions. This season will also be the best time for whale shark encounters. On our last day, we will transfer back to Cabo and fly back to LAX, taking our everlasting memories with us back home.

Dive insurance is required to participate in this trip. Please use our links to purchase dive insurance from DAN or Dive Assure
Travel insurance is optional. However, over the years, we have seen how valuable and beneficial travel insurance can be. These policies will help cover expenses when your trip is interrupted due to events such as weather, mechanical breakdowns, missed flights/connections, or when someone else has a dive/medical emergency that prevents you from diving.

We want to help offset the cost of travel insurance and will sponsor 5% of the cost as store credit if you use the links from our website to purchase travel insurance from DAN or Dive Assure. We highly recommend it!
Here is a quick guide to help you decide if travel insurance from DAN or Dive Assure is best for you.
