Flores to Alor, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia Dive & Eco Expedition 2021

Alor and Flores islands are a remote part of Indonesia in the heart of the Coral Triangle. These islands are a must-visit for any adventurous diver and there’s something interesting for everyone: macro life, large pelagics, huge schools of fish, wreck diving, and pristine coral gardens atop unique volcanic reef formations. Imagine the excitement of finding a rare rhinopias scorpionfish while muck diving, or the thrill of sharks swimming overhead while surrounded by some of the most astounding coral reef structures in the world! This area is home to a world-record-setting number of fish biodiversity, with over 1200 species recorded during a scientific expedition in Maumere Bay alone. You may also find blue ring, mimic, and wunderpus octopuses. You may have the chance to dive with dugongs. But Flores and Alor don’t stop with a magnificent underwater scene, these volcanic islands offer some of the most dramatic and beautiful topside sceneries as well. We will also visit the traditional villages on the islands, including the Pura Island villagers with their dugout canoes, who dive with homemade wooden goggles with glass bottle lenses. We’ll also be welcomed with the Lego Lego dance by the Abui tribe, wearing traditional clothing and brass anklets.

Join Ocean Safari’s custom itinerary trip to Flores and Alor aboard the best luxurious liveaboard in the world, Arenui. This trip’s route and dive locations were specially arranged by Gabriel and Luigi, the owner of the Arenui. You won’t find this special itinerary anywhere else, and in fact, it has been hidden away from public view so that this custom trip cannot be copied by anyone else before our trip. You will undoubtedly discover the best that these remote Indonesian islands have to offer, led by the most experienced and knowledgeable crews. You’ll thank us when you’ve seen the rarest ghost pipefish, colorful mandarin fish, frogfish and leaf fish, mantis shrimp, cuttlefish, ribbon eels, nudibranchs, and weedy scorpionfish, all hidden amongst the most colorful and vibrant array of soft and hard corals. All that plus brown-banded bamboo sharks or even a whale shark swimming overhead!
