Where is This?

Guess where this picture was taken? If you noticed the colony of purple hydrocoral and said Farnsworth Bank, try again. This is from our two-day dive adventure at San Clemente Island aboard the Horizon. The dive site is known as 9 Fathoms, located at the north end of San Clemente Island. The density and size of the hydrocoral and the abundance of marine life there rivaled, or even surpassed, those of the famed Farnsworth Bank. We will be going back there again next summer (July 18-19, 2020). Who wants to join us?

So Popular

What a popular lady Jami is. Even the fish swirl around her.

Fish Everywhere!

Fish, fish, fish… Cortes Sea chub fill up the sea… The dives at Rocas Alijos were amazing!

Cute Little Red Crab

This funny looking little guy is called a tuna crab or pelagic red crab (Pleuroncodes planipes). They normally live in the waters off Baja California, Mexico, but during warm water events they ride the current up northward to Southern and Central California. Their bright red color contrasts beautifully against the amber forest. We saw many of them during our Baja dive trip aboard Nautilus Undersea Hunter

Beautiful Rocas Alijos

Amazing Rocas Alijos - three lonely rocks rising up from the deep abyss in the middle of the Pacific Ocean 400 miles northwest of Cabo San Lucas. Underwater, the unique rock formation and pinnacles are teeming with a variety of fish… Cortes sea chub, clarion angelfish, male Mexican hog fish. How many different species of fish do you see?
